Let’s talk about Atlantis

I remember reading about the “Lost Continent of Atlantis”. I always wondered how in the world you could lose an entire continent. Of course that was before I knew about plate tectonics and such. Well, now I know a little more about the forces that can shape the earth, and so it makes a little more sense how one could lose a land mass that size.
Apparently, I’m not the only one fascinated by the concept of Atlantis (boy is that an understatement–I don’t know anyone who isn’t), because today, I was reading a bit over at AtlantisKingdom.com and he says that the Americas were once Atlantis. That’s right! In fact, he says that Tampa Florida was the royal city, saying:
Note: We know this about Atlantis because Plato described a mountain range, which descended toward the sea. The Appalachian Mountains fit the description, because they start near Atlanta, Georgia, which was the Center of Atlantis, and run along the coast to Canada. Florida also has many archeological sites, which can only be explained by the presence of an advanced civilization.
