Route 66

Route 66 is the mother road of the U.S. Commissioned in 1926, when only 800 miles were paved, the entire 2448 miles had been paved before 1938. It’s no accident that so many artists have praised this road in song! Running from Chicago to LA, it is pure American icon, and the eight states it crosses are a good example of the many land types and population demographics here in the US. I would love to take a few weeks and travel this old 2 lane road. It just seems like the ultimate Thelma and Louise adventure!
Of course, I’ll need to find hotels, and it would be easy to use Lodging Hunt to find what I need. From the start of my trip with Illinois Lodging to near the end with Arizona lodging, they have me covered. The site is very easy to navigate, with a state menu, and then town menus. If you know where you are going you can be looking at area hotels in just 2 clicks. And don’t think that’s all they have! You don;t have to be following my path to use the site! They have listing for Nevada lodging and all the other states, too. But I still think I want to get MY kicks on route 66.
