Acne

August 22nd, 2008

Did you know that I look up some incredibly weird stuff on wikipedia? Well, I do, but that is not today’s topic, LOL. I just wanted to put in a plug for wikipedia, because it is an awesome resource. Today, I looked up, as the title suggests, acne. I’d thought that acne might be a relatively recent problem, given that it is often exacerbated by stress, and we are seeing an increase in the stress levels of teens.

The truth is: yes and no. There is apparently evidence that some early pharoahs suffered acne, and the very word comes from the Ancient Greek for point or peak. I guess that means that folks have been looking for the best acne treatment cream for thousands of years, huh?

Buy the Moon

August 21st, 2008

YOu know, I love to talk about new places, but tonight’s place is really out there. No. I mean reeeeeeeeeeally out there. Tonight I want to share a site that will allow you to buy the moon. Think about the possibilities! You could buy a slice of Luna, and then rent it out! An extraterrestrial time share. And think about how much less you’d weigh there! You could advertise it as a weight loss vacation! Muhahahahahahaha!

Ground Transportation

August 20th, 2008

How many times have you traveled and had a snafu with your ground transportation? I don;t get to go places very often, but when I do, the part of the trip most likely to give me heartburn is the period between the flight arriving and walking in the hotel door. After all, I don’t always have a friend picking me up, and I don’t always choose to stay in hotels that offer shuttle service, because they frequently also offer higher prices, though in a pinch I have picked hotels based solely on that amenity. And cabs are also spendy.

Enter Newark Airport Shuttle. Though this service is only helpful around “JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark Airports and hotels, residences and businesses between Battery Park and 125th Street” the concept behind it is innovative, and would be welcome anywhere. What if, you could fly into a city, take care of business via shuttle and fly right back out. No rental car hassle, no hotel hook-ins, just what you need: reliable ground transportation. No having to buy apples just to get oranges as I like to say. And you can book online. How easy is that?

I hope this company expands. Specifically, I hope that manage to set up operations in Orlando before I get there in September.

Did you know… golf edition

August 20th, 2008

Did you know that the Scots invented the game of golf? Yep. Just imagine the mind that developed a game that consists of whacking a ball and then following it! And then doing it again. And again. Oops! Lost in the heather, penalty strokes. Anyway, now you know. Next time you pick up those Callaway golf clubs and head out to the links, give a nod to Scot ingenuity, because they also invented the raincoat and pavement.

Another Fun Idea

August 19th, 2008

I’m just full of them, aren’t I? One day I will quit writing about them and do them. HA! Anyway,I mentioned the other day that I would like to play tourist in my area, but the fact is that I would like to tour the whole state. And also South Carolina and Virginia. I particularly want to see Colonial Williamsburg and Pawley’s Island.

But I do not want to drive my gas guzzling van to do it! Instead, I want to rent an even bigger, more gas guzzling van so we can all fit comfortably. Time for online car insurance quotes
