The Biggest Little City in the World

That’s the nickname of Reno, Nevada. Reno is the fourth largest city in Nevada, with a estimated population of 210,255 in 2006. Those two numbers together boggle my mind. I knew Nevada wasn’t heavily populated, but dang. By comparison, my city had an estimated 100,000 people with the metro area bursting up to 550,455.

Like other Nevada cities, Reno relies on gaming for it’s livelihood. Recently though, Reno has decided to take a bet on gaming of another sort: along with Tahoe, they are bidding on the 2018 winter Olympic games. If they win that bid, you can bet that the Reno hotels and casinos will be having a celebration of their own!
